ABOUT ME

Daniel Barrera is a speaker and author who enjoys inspiring others to grab the bull of their engineering/financial careers by the horns, make better plans, discover how to better apply their talents and overall get a more fulfilled life through maximizing social impact.

Daniel currently works as a financial quantitative researcher at a hedge fund in Wall Street, New York. He develops statistical models to improve multi-billion dollar portfolios and to better manage their risk. For over 10 years he’s been applying the principles of Scientific Investing to help portfolio and risk managers make better decisions at the top financial institutions of the world.

Before joining the Investment industry, Daniel designed and applied models for price optimization and for promotion management in a retail company in Mexico, focusing on better understanding the customers to offer them more satisfying options that could earn their loyalty. Previous to this, he also worked as an systems engineer and as an electronics engineer.

Daniel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Monterrey Institute of Technology, a Master in Business Administration from University of Texas at Austin and a Master in Financial Engineering from University of California Berkeley.
